Keepin’ the rock ‘n’ roll fires burnin’ is thirsty work, so in these times of great drought where even a drop of musical sewerage is fought over and lapped up as if it is the very nectar of life itself, it is from the heavens that we have been sent a life giving monsoon. And that, brothers and sisters is Dresden.
Raining down on us like carpet-bombs, blowing away the stagnant present with a six string razored attack and panzer division drums, they wash the tuneless mud from our feet down the gutter of banality. Breast fed by the Stooges, nurtured by Sonic Youth and finally educated in the ways of this wicked but beautiful world by their fathers the MC5, Dresden don’t look for answers, they look for questions. The first of these questions was delivered in early February 2006 with the release of debut single “Save my Soul” on cd and 10” vinyl.
The band have made two appearances at Alan McGee’s Death Disco club night in London. The former has also championed Dresden on his radio 1 slot and the band recently performed a 6 song live session on Billy Sloan’s Clyde 1 show (Jan 29th). Vic Galloway (radio 1/radio Scotland) and Jim Gellatly (XFM Scotland) have also contributed in abundance to the assault on the airwaves.
